Objectives

Bit by Design is a focused, time-bound web design competition centered on clarity, creativity, and design reasoning. Participants work individually on a shared design prompt using a mandatory Figma template, creating original web interfaces under strict constraints. The competition is designed to evaluate participants' ability to communicate ideas visually and reason through design decisions under pressure.

Rules

• Individual participation only — no teams.
• All designs must be created using the provided mandatory Figma template.
• Participants interpret a shared design prompt and challenge brief.
• Customization is allowed for colors, typography, and visual styling within the template constraints.
• All designs must be created live during the event duration — no pre-made work.
• Submissions are evaluated through an anonymous, structured peer-evaluation and voting system.
• Evaluation criteria:
  • Clarity: Is the design easy to understand?
  • Hierarchy: Is information structured logically?
  • Originality: Does it show creative thinking?
  • Design Reasoning: Are design choices intentional and well-justified?
• The event is hosted on a custom-built platform for submissions and voting.
